Melissa Atkinson works as an analyst at Economic Bureau Amsterdam, where she focuses on economic research for both the European Netherlands and the Caribbean Netherlands. She is currently contributing to the development of a public investment agenda for Curaçao, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Development.
Melissa earned her bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at the John Stuart Mill College of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. During her bachelor’s, she completed a minor in Economic Policy at Waseda University in Japan. For her bachelor’s thesis, she studied the determinants of the economic effects of refugee camps on surrounding regions in Sub-Saharan Africa. Melissa is currently studying Economic Policy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, with a particular interest in macroeconomic policy and quantitative research methods. She will begin her master’s thesis in the spring.
