Amsterdam Bureau for Economics celebrates 5th anniversary
Amsterdam Bureau for Economics (EBA) is celebrating an important milestone this year: we have been in existence for 5 years! Over the past five years, we have worked with dedication to providing high-quality economic and financial advice, insightful analyses and actionable solutions for our clients. We have not only committed ourselves within the European Netherlands, but also in Brussels and in the Caribbean part of the Dutch Kingdom.
Since its founding in 2019, EBA has established itself as a partner for governments and companies at home and abroad with approximately 100 research and advisory projects, in areas such as competition and state aid, damage analyses and Kingdom Relations. In our first year, 2019, we started consultancy work on a range of topics, of which the development of a model to minimize disruption from track work deserves mention. The following year, on behalf of the House of Representatives, we published Kleine eilanden, grote uitdagingen (‘Small Islands, Big Challenges’): a report that is still useful for understanding the economic context of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. In addition to research and advice, product development is an important part of EBA’s services: for example, in 2021 we published the public tool Caribbean Analytics and Statistics, which also introduced the Caribbean Investment Climate Index. Since that year, we have carried out so-called Market Economy Operator tests for various governments every year to prevent unauthorized state aid.
The following year we moved to our current office on Herengracht. During this year, our research focused, among other things, on the country packages that Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten had agreed with the Netherlands. In the past year, support to the Social Minimum Committee was a special project.
In this fifth anniversary we not only reflect on the wonderful projects of the past five years, but we also look to a promising future. Amsterdam Bureau for Economics remains committed to providing high-quality research and sound advice and to developing innovative products. We would like to thank our valued customers, partners and employees for their support and trust.
Finally, we continue to strive to be a responsible company that makes a social contribution. We do this by sponsoring community and social activities, sharing knowledge and information and through CO2 compensation.
